Gourmet Restaurant in Carleton Place

Very disappointing -pizza increased in price but decreased in size! We have been ordering the same Xlarge pizza every week for a few months now - tonight not only did the price increase by $5.00, the size decreased down to what would be more like a Large pizza. Just lost a customer.

Great food, great service! Didn't have to wait for my food when I went to pick up, and it was hot and so good!! I recommend this place for pizza and Italian poutine too!

Good food, plentiful plates for the hungry and very reasonable prices. Located on the highway, it is surprisingly very accessible and there's plenty of parking whether you drive a 4 wheeler or an 18 wheeler.

I had a delicious roast turkey dinner. It was delicious.Price was right, too.I met with friends there and we all enjoyed our meal.Nice quiet and peaceful restaurant. I would return for all of these reasons.Merry Christmas 2019.

Nice place. The staff was friendly but extremely busy. The food was very good, and they were willing to accommodate our special requests. But be prepared to wait, the place gets extremely busy in the evening.

This is the spot in town. Great food and great people. Have been going here for years and it is my favourite place!

Hearty specials fill your belly from soup to dessert all included! Servers are on you... in and out fast if your waiting for the bus etc.

We've been a customer for over a decade. Our last visit left a lot to be desired. There is one waitress who normally works the bar side of the Gourmet. Normally, we choose to not sit on her side as she isn't a good waitress on the best of days. Well, on this visit we learned how rude and belligerent she can be. Not only was she verbally abusive to a customer, she chose to tell another waitress and table of customers about the other customers concerns (they mentioned they were immune compromised) while rolling her eyes and making hand gestures. We will most likely never eat there again!

The food was very tasty, the portions were large (hello, take-out box!), and the service was fast, efficient & friendly. We'll definitely be back again 😁And special thanks to a previous reviewer who commented on the wonky steps at the entrance -- that was a very helpful tip!

Don't let its run down exterior dissuade you. I went here for breakfast with a friend of mine and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was good quality, the coffee was excellent, the service was very friendly and fast and on top of that, it's cheaper than any breakfast I can get in my part of town (and there's a lot of options here.)Was quite pleased and will be back!

Breakfast review: The Good: - The price after tax for their breakfast special was $8.41- The Server, she was engaging, friendly and struck up a convo. Very nice lady! - Believe it or not the ambiance. Although the decor has a definite 80's feel it is nice to be a traditional diner. The Meh: The breakfast itself, my bacon was undercooked and the potatoes were very under flavored. It did redeem itself with a bottomless cup of coffee (included and not upcharged like most places) and Jam and peanut butter is a great touch. Overall: Great value for your money seems to be the common theme here. And good friendly service. I will try it for lunch one day.

The waitress was awesome, the guy at the cash was useless and demeaning to the waitress. The food was great and cooked quickly and perfectly. The only star was due to the guy at the cash. I hope he sees this review and reevaluates how he behaves and how he treats people. To be honest it wouldn't kill him to bus a table or two!

First Pizza from this establishment and OMG the tastiest pizza I have had in many years. Thank you the flavourful experience! You will be seeing me again for other delights !!

Under-cooked homefries and soggy french toast. No maple syrup. No whole wheat toast option (only white or rye). Server was nice.

We had a group outing of 40 people. They new far ahead of time. Our one waitress who took all of our orders was very friendly. Luckily some went early to order. The fish was like a thick chicken ball batter but doughy on the inside and a little rubbery. Mom had the salad and the dressing was very waterey. I think with the mass of people ordering salads maybe they whipped up a batch of dressing and forgot a couppe ingredients. The coconut pie looked delicious but once we had a bite it was as though there was a large amount of gelatin powder used. No fluff to any part of it. On the up side they have Barqs root beer and our waitress was very friendly!

Went with family and family friends. We all enjoyed our meals. Portions and prices were great. Staff was friendly and engaged even though it was busy on this Family day weekend. We would go more often if we lived in town. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved this dining lounge. Fully licensed and huge portions. Friendly staff that welcome you and wish you a good day in the way out. Meals from scratch. Roasted turkey roasted on site, homemade coconut cream pie, etc.. definitely a spot to stop.

Friendly staff...great food portions... And tasty "home" cooked food experience! Always a wonderful meal. Plenty of space. Along with the regular restaurant and bar stool area, they have an area for sports teams, banquet parties, or just lively family gatherings. I highly recommend it!

My favorite restaurant in Carleton Place. Home cooking at its best!! Soups are fresh, homemade, and always soo good.

Food was generic, had the Rueben 1st time it wasn't very good or made properly, fries are frozen. 2nd time fish & chips. The fish was very good. The waitress Denise forgot my gravy on my fries but tried to charge me anyways & was pretty surly. Other waitress kept talking to me about her life & was polite but kept forgetting to serve me. Overpriced when you consider its nothing but fries they're giving you. A tiny cup of rice pudding or jello is $4. All in all I won't eat there again except maybe for the fish n chips.

Bought 2 pizzas and will never do it again. Crust was soggy and paper thin..just a paint brush worth of pizza sauce..veggies on pizza were so watery they were dripping from pizza. Made me sick to my stomach. For the price I paid for them it was not worth it at all. Wont waste my money on another one.

THIS PLACE IS SO FRIENDLY ! I WOULD COME FOR THE GREAT SEEVICE ALONE BUT, THE SERVING SIZES ARE VERY GENEROUS AND THE QUALITY IS AMAZING. I HAD THE CHICKEN FINGERS WITH GRAVY AND I COULD ONLY EAT HALF OF IT. THE FLAVOR IS DYNAMITE !! OH BY THE WAY THE RINGS ARE A PLATE FOR A FAMILY TO SHARE. SPANISH ONION RINGS AND WOW. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

Stopped for pizza on the go and it was absolutely amazing! Don’t let the outside scary you away. It’s a true small town restaurant, with locals and visitors passing through and you’ll get that home cooked meal! Give it a try!

Attentive staff are pleasant. The food great, with larger than average portions. Too bad they're only in one place. Reminds me of the local restaurants that used to line the main road of a village or suburb as I was growing up. Very popular with the locals. They are even lined up waiting for seats. Not "a place for suits" though. Wear your jeans, and dress down. Nobody is looking when there is good food sitting in front of them. You will want to tip well.
